The morning after summiting the Sonnenspitze we enjoyed an undisturbed sleep. The weather was rainy and when we finally got up, we spent most of the day going through all the photos and videos from our climb. In the afternoon me and Dima got out to buy him a new pair of trekking poles to replace the broken one. While we were walking towards Garmisch we saw young men surfing in the river Partnach. They had a waterskiing tow rope fixed to a bridge, holding them in place on a vortex. Surfing in a river bed filled with rocks is not completely risk free, but still they seemed to have a really good time.
Sonnenspitzen huiputuksen jälkeen nukuimme aamulla pitkään. Päivä oli sateinen, joten katselimme rauhassa läpi reissulta kerääntyneitä valokuvia ja videoita. Iltapäivällä lähdimme Diman kanssa kaupungille ostamaan hänelle uusia vaellussauvoja katkenneen tilalle. Kävellessämme kohti Garmischin keskustaa näimme nuoria miehiä surffaamassa Partnach-joessa. He olivat virittäneet siltaan kiinni vesihiihtokapulan, jonka avulla he saattoivat jäädä surffaamaan joessa olevan pyörteen päälle. Kivikkoisessa uomassa surffaaminen ei ole aivan riskitöntä, mutta hauskalta se näytti silti.
