Kitchen Creek
I woke up around six, and after lounging for a bit I got up. Breakfast was more appetizing today. Packed up my camp and got on the trail.
I got in the most of a three-mile climb before the sun started to hit the hillside that had been in the shad. I could put up with the beating sun because I knew there was refreshment ahead.
There is a small shop and deli in Lake Morena. I arrived there after hiking about 5 miles. I ordered a pizza and got a wonderful, cold Pepsi to drink. Oh, how delectable it was. I also went to the Lake Morena camping area to use the restroom and charge my phone. I also had a chance to make a short video call to Nina.
From Lake Morena forward I once again got to fry in the mid-day sun, but the sunshade helped significantly. I topped off my water at the Boulder Oaks camping area and hiked up to Kitchen Creek to finish off the evening. As the night fell, the endless song of the happy frogs began.
Heräsin kuuden aikoihin ja hetken makoiltuani nousin ylös. Aamupala maistui jo paremmin. Leiri kasaan ja matkaan.
Ehdin tehdä suurimman osan noin kolmen mailin noususta ennen kuin aurinko alkoi osua varjossa olleeseen rinteeseen. Aamupäivän paahteen kesti, kun tiesi edessä olevan mukava virkistys.
Lake Morenassa on pieni kauppa ja deli. Saavuin sinne noin 5 mailia vaellettuani. Tilasin pizzan ja otin ihanan kylmän Pepsin juotavakseni. Mikä nautinto se olikaan. Kävin myös Lake Morenan leirintäalueella käyttämässä vessaa ja lataamassa puhelinta. Samalla saatoin soittaa lyhyen videopuhelun Ninalle.
Lake Morenasta eteenpäin sain taas paistua keskipäivän auringossa, mutta aurinkovarjo auttoi huomattavasti. Tankkasin vettä Boulder Oaksin leirintäalueelta ja tein vielä illan lopuksi nousun Kitchen Creekille. Illan pimentyessä alkoi iloisten sammakoiden loputon laulu.
